This year has been one hell of a rollercoaster. Some how it’s managed to be both the best and worst year all wrapped up into one. Between us we have managed to visit 11 countries, have some beyond epic road trips and had a whole bunch of adventures. There has been so many *pinch me this is so amazing* moments like hiking to a glacier in Norway or swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Outer Hebrides. We have spent more time with family, reconnected with old friends as well as meeting some great new people and making new friends.
On the flip side though things have also been pretty darn tough. Social media isn’t reality and the parts of our lives you haven’t seen this last year include helping save a loved one from an abusive relationship. Once they were in a safe place we moved into their house for around 2 months to protect/care for their animals and get the house up together and ready to be sold. We have struggled with grief and the loss of friends. There have been some financial set backs which were pretty overwhelming at the time. We are both self employed which can be both a blessing and a curse as we don’t get holiday pay, sick pay or other work place benefits but we do set our work hours. I (Hannah) have also really struggled with my mental health this year and it has really taken it’s toll on both of us.
All of that being said, we are thankful for so many things. The quality time we have had to spend together and with the people we love, watching Pumpkin pup learn grow and thrive, building our businesses and exploring as much as we can. The rough moments make us appreciate the good ones and we have had SO many good experiences this year.
Looking ahead to 2023 we have some big plans for adventures both in and outside the UK so watch this space! We can’t wait to show you what is next!
